MUMAC - Cimbali Group’s Coffee Machine Museum
Located in Binasco, just outside Milan, MUMAC, Cimbali Group’s Coffee Machine Museum, is a museum dedicated to the history and evolution of espresso coffee machines. Since its opening in 2012, MUMAC has become a cultural landmark, showcasing a remarkable collection of vintage coffee machines, historical documents, and advertising materials that tell the story of Italian espresso.
What were the main challenges your museum faced before using amuseapp?
One of our biggest challenges was communicating with international visitors who didn’t speak Italian or English. While we regularly offer guided tours in these two languages, we needed an additional solution, like an audio guide, to help tourists from other countries fully engage with our exhibition and explore its rich history.
We also wanted a system that would allow visitors to explore independently, enhancing their experience while optimizing our museum’s operations.
Did you have other audio guide solutions before amuseapp?
Before amuseapp, we provided audio guides in multiple languages through an app developed specifically for MUMAC. However, over time, this system became outdated, required constant updates, and eventually fell out of use.
Why did you choose amuseapp?

How has amuseapp improved the visitor experience at your museum?
By implementing amuseapp’s audio guide in 12 languages (Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Polish, Swedish, and Portuguese), MUMAC has made the visitor experience more immersive and accessible to a global audience. This move has reinforced our commitment to social responsibility and inclusivity.
With amuseapp’s flexibility, we have created multiple tour options, allowing each visitor to tailor their experience. At MUMAC, guests can now choose between an introductory tour, a shorter overview, or an extended deep dive. We’ve also developed thematic routes, including one focused on the evolution of barista, another on fun facts about “Il Cimbalino,” and one dedicated to design. Additionally, we introduced a special itinerary for the 2024 FAI Autumn Days. Throughout the entire process, amuseapp’s team supported us in updating and refining our content.

How have visitors responded to using the audio guide on their smartphones?
Visitors have found the app intuitive. Once they select their preferred language, they can navigate the museum effortlessly. We haven’t received any negative feedback—it’s easy to download and use.
What changes have you noticed since adopting amuseapp?
We’ve seen an overall increase in museum visits, and compared to the first few months of adoption, we’ve observed a steady rise in the number of people using amuseapp.
Are visitors satisfied with the audio guide?
The audio guide is mainly used by international visitors and has been well-received. The shortest tour strikes the right balance—concise yet packed with valuable insights.
Have you noticed improvements in amuseapp’s technology since you first adopted it?
We started using amuseapp in 2023, and we noticed that, since then, the interface has improved significantly.
